Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

    Last Week

We loved catching up with each other regarding our time away. It is great to be together again.

We began some poetry writing last week with Object poems. They are now gracing our hallway for all to see. What amazing poets we have in our class.

Our first Junior Achievement session with Mrs. Anderson from Honor Credit Union was really fun! She will return for the next 4 Tuesday mornings to teach us about money and its role in our world and lives.

Our next readers' theater book, Farm Animals, came home on Friday. Please have your child read it to you and others several times. Be sure to add it to the place where all your child's books from school belong.

The Variety Show was SO much fun on Friday!! Brown School is full of very talented students. Our class behaved beautifully and the show was 2 hours long. The acts kept our attention well and the anticipation of what might come next kept our eyes on the stage. It was especially great seeing siblings and friends in the show 😃.

Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Our Positivity Project trait is Cheering on others' Success-When other people succeed, I am happy for them and cheer them on.


Monday is our Upton Planetarium field trip. We are so blessed to have this in our district. We will leave at 9:30 and return to

school around 10:30. Have your child tell you all about it. 🪐


All students are welcome to return the March homework and Book-it calendars at any time. 

Kindergarten Round Up is Tuesday, April 4th at Brown School at 7:00 pm.  If you or someone you know has a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2023, please plan to attend this special evening for adults only.   You will be able to meet kindergarten staff, see the facilities, learn about our comprehensive curriculum and pick up registration materials. Please fill out this form so we know you intend to register for the 2023-24 school year.   If you are unable to attend, please call: (269) 926-3122.

It was an absolutely beautiful day and we have SO much fun! Thanks go out to all the families for your generous giving of your time, talent and resources to make this all happen. It was amazing!!! It was fun being mix-matched on Monday. I was sorry to miss Crazy Hair Day on Wednesday. I hear we had some great hair styles. Friday was loads of fun for all as we celebrated Bucks for Brown.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week A few of the 100th day projects came in last week. All are due tomorrow, February 13th as we  celebrate becoming 100 days Smarter this year. All students will do a short "oral report" of their project for the class. Thank you for your help with this learning opportunity for your child.  Please let me know if you need another copy of our classmate names/numbers for Valentines. I am happy to send another copy home. Any questions, please ask.  Our student council is excited to report that Brown School raised $2742.54 this past week to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  What an amazing testament to the generosity and giving spirit that permeates our building.  Thank you for your participation for this very worthy cause.   Please be sure your child has adequate outdoor gear each day. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                          Last Week The information for the 100th Day Project went home on Friday. This is a fun activity for our kindergartners that shows how much 100 is in a real way. It can be as simple as 100 beans, pieces of pasta, etc. Please help guide your child with this, but allow him/her to do most of the work. Particularly the counting. Counting 10 groups of 10 is the easiest way for kindergartners to do this. Doing the projects for the students tells them that you don't think they can do a good enough job.
