Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week What a difference a day makes in this weather! Please try to look at the forecast before helping your child to choose outdoor clothes for the day. It looks like we will continue to need snow gear for a while. I know we all want the children to be comfortable while outside.  I placed the March Leader and Events calendar in the back of each child's folder last Thursday. The March homework and Book-It calendars came home as well. Your child may turn in his/her February homework calendar any time for a trip to the treasure chest and free Pizza Hut pizza coupon.  Your child's Personal Narratives came home last week. Please read through them with him/her. We have begun Opinion writing as our next unit. The first thing we learn is that no one's opinion is wrong, we all get to decide how we feel about things. 😊 As always, I enjoyed my one on one time with each student during a...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week Thank you for your participation with our 100th day. The children enjoyed telling the class about their projects. We told whose idea it was and what part each of them had in making the project. Our party was big fun as well. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this a special time learning how much 100 really is. 💯 We enjoyed our Valentine's party SO much! What fun it was distributing our valentines and having them to open with our ground-ups at home. Each of the stations were well planned by our volunteers and the children liked each of the very much. Thanks so much to those parents who made this happen for us. We appreciate you all so much! ❤ Reading groups are going well during Daily 5. Please be sure a day doesn’t pass where you have not read to/with your child. I cannot emphasize enough how important and powerful reading each day is for growing readers. Have your child choose ...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week A few of the 100th day projects came in last week. All are due tomorrow, February 13th as we  celebrate becoming 100 days Smarter this year. All students will do a short "oral report" of their project for the class. Thank you for your help with this learning opportunity for your child.  Please let me know if you need another copy of our classmate names/numbers for Valentines. I am happy to send another copy home. Any questions, please ask.  Our student council is excited to report that Brown School raised $2742.54 this past week to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  What an amazing testament to the generosity and giving spirit that permeates our building.  Thank you for your participation for this very worthy cause.   Please be sure your child has adequate outdoor gear each day. I know the weather is sporadic. Please keep your eye...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                          Last Week The information for the 100th Day Project went home on Friday. This is a fun activity for our kindergartners that shows how much 100 is in a real way. It can be as simple as 100 beans, pieces of pasta, etc. Please help guide your child with this, but allow him/her to do most of the work. Particularly the counting. Counting 10 groups of 10 is the easiest way for kindergartners to do this. Doing the projects for the students tells them that you don't think they can do a good enough job. Each of them is able to do a great, kindergarten job. Projects may be brought to school as early as Thurs. 2/9. We will celebrate our 100th day on Monday 2/13!! ...
