Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week Last week during Daily 5, we focused on Analyzing Story Elements, Synthesizing and Summarizing text. After reading a story with your child, discuss the main characters, main idea, setting, problem and solution (for fiction stories). Ask your child to retell the story to check for understanding too. I hope the Gingerbread Houses made it home in 1 piece (I know that is a lofty goal). We had lots of fun making them together. Thank you to all the parents who made this possible for us in the way of donating items and helping with the event.  ______________________________ ______________________________ __ Snack and Leaders Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week Yesterday your child came home with a new set of Sight Words and the book, Baby Animals . Please add the words to your child's sight word bag and the book to your designated spot for books your child can read. Please go through them daily.  Reading to and with your child daily is extremely important for so many reasons. Please prioritize this time. You will never regret the time with your child nor realize the impact it has had on his/her development and love for reading (I know, I sound like a broken record. Sorry, it is my soapbox 😊). ______________________________ ______________________________ __ Snack and Leaders Your child will come h...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week Your child's progress report came home on Monday. Please keep the report, sign the envelope and return it to school asap. Those envelopes will be used all year to deliver progress reports to you .  All the grades are given with our "end of the year" goal in mind. Please do not be concerned if your child receives a 1 or 2 on a standard. 1 means additional support is needed in that area, 2 means progressing towards mastery of the standard and 3 means the standard has been met.  If you have any questions or concerns after receiving the progress report, please contact me. Yesterday your child made a wish list at the Book Fair with the help of a 5th grade student. The fair will be open through next week if you would like to stop in or send...
