  Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

    Last Week

Our time with the author/illustrator, Ruth McNally, was so fun on Wednesday. Each child was given a sketch pad to use throughout the hour with her. The children loved drawing and creating stories with her. Be sure to ask your child about this and keep the sketching going. 😊

In Science last week we continued to study Wind and Storms. We watched a video about the wind and what a large role it plays in our weather. Each child made a "Breeze Buddy" to aide in predicting the weather. We discussed that it might be best to find a good spot for it after spring break. Ask your child to explain how we made it and what it is for.

Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Our Positivity Project trait is Fairness-You believe all people have value and you treat others as you would like to

be treated.


I still have a few progress report envelopes that need to be returned. Thank you for your attention to this. We like to reuse as much as possible. 


Tuesday, March 14--Science Night-5:30-7:30-All are welcome!


We get to see the 1st grade program on Wednesday. We just love watching others perform. This class has become a very

good audience too.


Spring break begins Friday, March 17 through Friday, March 24.

School resumes Monday, March 27.


Have a wonderful, relaxing spring break!! I will look forward to seeing all my kiddos on Monday, March 27. 😃


Upcoming Events


This spring we will be participating in Junior Achievement. Our facilitator is Beth Anderson from Honor Credit Union. She will come for 30 minutes once a week for 5 weeks. This coincides beautifully with our Social Studies Economics unit. We will learn about money, needs vs. wants, the role of money in our world and the importance of saving money. This is such a nice opportunity and I look forward to our time with Beth each week.

Monday, April 3-Planetarium field trip


Tuesday, April 4-Kindergarten Round-Up @ Brown School 7-8:00. This is for parents with Y5's/kindergarten children for

the 2023-24 school year.

It was an absolutely beautiful day and we have SO much fun! Thanks go out to all the families for your generous giving of your time, talent and resources to make this all happen. It was amazing!!! It was fun being mix-matched on Monday. I was sorry to miss Crazy Hair Day on Wednesday. I hear we had some great hair styles. Friday was loads of fun for all as we celebrated Bucks for Brown. Thank you again for your generosity in supporting all the "extra things" we all enjoy through our wonderful PTO.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week A few of the 100th day projects came in last week. All are due tomorrow, February 13th as we  celebrate becoming 100 days Smarter this year. All students will do a short "oral report" of their project for the class. Thank you for your help with this learning opportunity for your child.  Please let me know if you need another copy of our classmate names/numbers for Valentines. I am happy to send another copy home. Any questions, please ask.  Our student council is excited to report that Brown School raised $2742.54 this past week to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  What an amazing testament to the generosity and giving spirit that permeates our building.  Thank you for your participation for this very worthy cause.   Please be sure your child has adequate outdoor gear each day. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                          Last Week The information for the 100th Day Project went home on Friday. This is a fun activity for our kindergartners that shows how much 100 is in a real way. It can be as simple as 100 beans, pieces of pasta, etc. Please help guide your child with this, but allow him/her to do most of the work. Particularly the counting. Counting 10 groups of 10 is the easiest way for kindergartners to do this. Doing the projects for the students tells them that you don't think they can do a good enough job.
