Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                        Last Week

Oh my goodness, we had so much fun ice skating on Friday! A huge thank you goes out to all the grown ups who helped make this happen. We definitely could not have gone without you. The kiddos were so brave and did such good jobs. It was a first for many and ice skating is hard.

A new set of sight words and the "We Like Fruit" readers' theater book came home on Friday. Please add them to your collections of each and practice, practice, practice. If at any time you need another set of all sight words I will be happy to send them home. Just let me know.

We took the ELA NWEA assessment last Thursday. The boys and girls did a nice job taking their time and doing their best work.  As a reminder, we take the K-2nd grade test, which means students much older than our students are taking this same test. The specific questions are different based upon the answers given. Which means as you get answers correct, the problems become more difficult. We will take the Math portion on Monday morning.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week

Our Positivity Project trait is OPM (Other People Matter)

Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others

Our guest reader next week is Ms. Reck who will come at 3:15 on Wednesday with 2-3 books.

We all love this time so much!

During Daily 5 we will be learning the concepts of Making Inferences and Making Connections as strategies for reading. We all do this all the time, we just don't realize it 😊.

Reminder--Wednesday is NOT a late start day. School begins at the regularly scheduled time.

Please watch this short video regarding learning to tie shoes. I had not seen it before and it is a game changer. I taught my 5 year old granddaughter to tie in minutes! This will be part of our Positivity Project lesson next week.
