  Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                         Last Week

Well, it is apparent that winter has come early. I have sent some emails but will reiterate our Brown School rules --

*If snow is on the ground, snow pants and boots must be worn to go into the snow for play.

*Without boots students must stay on the blacktop area only.

*With boots and no snow pants, students may walk around in the snow but may not play in it.

Our goal is to keep the childrens' indoor clothing/shoes dry and comfortable for learning.

*Throwing snow is not allowed at Brown. It is difficult to know where to draw the line, so the snow stays on the ground. Building of snow people and forts is permitted.

*You are welcome to keep a pair of shoes at school during the winter months, in fact, it is a good idea.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding winter at Brown.

Our Thanksgiving lunch was delicious and so much fun. Your kindergartners did an amazing job of singing for 2 or the 3 lunch times. Be sure to check out the videos on Facebook. Our class sang during the 1st and the 3rd lunches.

We loved celebrating our 50th Day on Monday. Thank you to all the grown-ups who volunteered for both this party and the Thanksgiving lunch. These days and events make a difference in our children's lives and make memories.

Students may still hand in their October Homework/Book-It forms. Great job reading at home! Please be sure that your child’s name is on the bottom of the Book-It form.

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week

P2 Character Strengths

Gratitude #2-You are aware of and thankful for good things that happen.

11/28-12/2-Enthusiasm-You approach life with excitement and energy.

I am sorry to report that our Jeeth and his family are moving to the Chicago area. Next week will be his last with us. We will miss you Jeeth and wish you all the best as you move closer to family. I'm sure this is making those grandparents very happy ❤.

I am taking a personal day on Tuesday as my family all comes home for the holiday! Mrs. McDonald will be our guest teacher. The children love her. She is a retired teacher and does a great job.

Due to the short week next week, my next blog will be posted the first weekend in December.

Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, back packs, etc.

Upcoming Events

I have some great news that the first full week of December we are adding 2 new students to our class!!

Cooper and Zoe are twins and have an older sister who is already a 4th grader at Brown. I know everyone will be excited to meet them and help them feel welcome at Brown and in our class.

Our Thanksgiving break is Wednesday, 11/24 through Friday, 11/26.

Have a blessed time with family and friends!
