  Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                         Last Week

I so enjoyed my time with each of you during conferences! Thank you for making the effort to spend this important time together. Every appointment was kept and I appreciate that more than you know (I have few years when that is the case). As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding your child's time at school.


Tuesday we had our first meeting with our 3rd grade buddies from Mrs. Lear's class. We had so much fun making turkeys from pattern block shapes and getting to know each other. Be sure to ask your child about this great time together.


We made it through our first all school tornado drill on Wednesday. The children did a nice job learning how to remain safe, just in case.


Students may still hand in their October Homework/Book-It forms. Great job reading at home! Please be sure that your child’s name is on the bottom of the Book-It form.

Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Monday, November 14th will be our 50th Day Celebration. How can it be that we have been together for 50 days!


Monday, November 14th is also be our Brown School Thanksgiving luncheon.  This is for the students only, other than those adults volunteering. The kindergartners will be singing at the luncheon. We will be sure to put the video on the Brown School fb page for you to see ☺. Please email me if your child will not be eating the school lunch on this day.Individual cards are not used, so all students will be charged unless I tell Mrs. Punches not to.


We also have a ½ day on Friday, November 18th as we finish our 1st trimester.


Our next Guest Reader, Mrs. Vogan (Ivy's grandma), will arrive at 3:15 (changed from 3:20 due to time) on Wednesday,

November 16th. Please bring 2-3 books with you to read. There are still open dates on the schedule. Please find one that

works for you on this Guest reader document. DeLapa Guest Readers


Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, back packs, etc.

It was an absolutely beautiful day and we have SO much fun! Thanks go out to all the families for your generous giving of your time, talent and resources to make this all happen. It was amazing!!! It was fun being mix-matched on Monday. I was sorry to miss Crazy Hair Day on Wednesday. I hear we had some great hair styles. Friday was loads of fun for all as we celebrated Bucks for Brown. Thank you again for your generosity in supporting all the "extra things" we all enjoy through our wonderful PTO.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week A few of the 100th day projects came in last week. All are due tomorrow, February 13th as we  celebrate becoming 100 days Smarter this year. All students will do a short "oral report" of their project for the class. Thank you for your help with this learning opportunity for your child.  Please let me know if you need another copy of our classmate names/numbers for Valentines. I am happy to send another copy home. Any questions, please ask.  Our student council is excited to report that Brown School raised $2742.54 this past week to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  What an amazing testament to the generosity and giving spirit that permeates our building.  Thank you for your participation for this very worthy cause.   Please be sure your child has adequate outdoor gear each day. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                          Last Week The information for the 100th Day Project went home on Friday. This is a fun activity for our kindergartners that shows how much 100 is in a real way. It can be as simple as 100 beans, pieces of pasta, etc. Please help guide your child with this, but allow him/her to do most of the work. Particularly the counting. Counting 10 groups of 10 is the easiest way for kindergartners to do this. Doing the projects for the students tells them that you don't think they can do a good enough job.
